Beauty and the Beast

Back when my oldest was about 4, we saw Disney's "Beauty and the Beast". I remember there were several "Christian" critics suggesting that we as Christians shouldn't see the movie because Belle fell in love with the Beast and this is a form of bestiality. (Same with Little Mermaid)

I ignorned the critics. Maybe I was wrong....who knows....but today, I took my girls to see Beauty and the Beast in 3D. As I thought about those critics from 20+years ago, I started thinking, "What if we think about our relationship to the LORD? The LORD is kinda like Belle, and we are the Beast."

Think about it....The LORD is beautiful and perfect. HE loves us unconditionally and always. HE loves us when we were yet sinners. Kinda like the Beast. He was ugly, mean, and unloving and unloveable. Then Belle showed the Beast love, and the Beast got to know Belle and began to love her back. Doesn't that kinda sound like our relationship to the LORD? (well maybe I'm the only one that thinks so)
