Consumed

This is a think outloud post....

So many people are consumed.    For example I know a family that their whole life is consumed by soccer.  They live, eat, breathe, sleep around soccer.  The world is consumed by things, stuff-sports, money, exercise, food, reality TV, etc.  I want to be consumed by GOD.  But in order to be consumed by GOD, I must be willing.  I must die to the flesh.  I must draw near to GOD, and then HE will draw near to me.  People always get that backwards.  They think it's GOD that must do the drawing near.  WRONG! 

James 4:8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.

I'm not always a good example of being consumed.  As a matter of fact for the past two years, I've been consumed by worldly things.  I'm not even sure how to get back on track.  I have grown past condemnations  that I must read my Bible everyday at such and such time, I can only watch certain shows, etc.I know that if I read my Bible frequently, I grow spiritually...but I don't have to be bound by law. I am free from the law, and living under grace. But grace doesn't mean I can act, do whatever I want either.  We need to obey from our hearts. 

Learning to be consumed....that's a goal this year.
